Race Format
With 40 entries and a maximum of 15 boats on the start line the racing had to be held with three starts per race. Therefore, the Championship was split into two parts: The Qualification Series and the Final Series.
Qualification Series
This consisted of three races, two to count. For each race there were three flights and the final positions were based on times. Boats were assigned randomly to a flight for each race. The results of the Qualification series were used to assign boats to a fleet for the Final Series. The top third of the fleet were in the Gold Fleet, the middle third in the Silver Fleet and the bottom third were in the Bronze Fleet.
Final Series
For each race in the Final Series each fleet (Gold, Silver, Bronze) sailed in their own race. The Final Series consisted of three races, two to count. Each boat’s final score consisted of their best two results plus their position in the Qualification Series. The result in the Qualification Series was not used to break ties.
Final Ranking
The Final Ranking was Gold Fleet, Silver Fleet, Bronze Fleet.
