Tata Steel SC (Western Aphelion)

This open kicks off the Comet’s 2027 season, following our first open at the venue in 2026 (which was judged a success despite really strong winds). Tata Steel SC is situated on Eglwys Nunydd reservoir, at Margam near Port Talbot – very conveniently accessed from the M4 motorway and close to the coast. The reservoir forms a sizeable open fresh water lake, approximately one mile long by half a mile wide offering great dinghy racing. There are a couple of Comets based there. The facilities are very good, with easy launching. The water is more open than our usual venues, offering the chance of long beats and lots of planing without those pesky lulls and shifts!

We will again be sharing the water with the Ospreys Welsh Championships. They’ll probably have 15 or so boats.
