National Championship – Merthyr Tydfil

The Comet class is delighted that Merthyr Tydfil SC has agreed to host our 2024 National Championship. The following link to the event contains the details. Please enter by online booking well in advance so the club has a good handle on numbers.

This is a location not to be missed. The club is nestled on the shores of a large reservoir in a beautiful off-grid location, which is within the Brecon Beacons National Park (known in Welsh as Bannau Brycheiniog – or informally as ‘the Bannau’). All facilities are available thanks to the efforts of the club members, who are excellent hosts. If the sun shines the views are spectacular.
The club has advised us to book accommodation sooner rather than later as Merthyr is used as a base for the Brecon Beacons and gets booked quickly on bank holidays. Also the Travelodge and Premier Inn get full as they are right next to Bike Park Wales.
Although onsite camping is not available at the club we can take advantage of facilities (camping, lodges etc) further along the reservoir at the local activity centre. This is a 20 minute walk or a drive around the reservoir. Early booking will be advisable due to demand at this busy time of year.
