COMET OPEN AT CHESTER
 10th JULY 2010
 
 
There was an excellent turnout of 6 Comets for the Northern Area Aphelion
Trophy event held on the river Dee at Chester on 10th. July. With visitors
travelling from Peterborough, Newark and Stoke - on - Trent competitors were
faced with testing force 2/3 variable westerly winds providing an
entertaining days sailing for participants and spectators alike.
 
 
In the opening race John Edwards and John Coppenhall fought for an early
lead before being overtaken by Eddie Pope who held on to win with John
Cppenhall in second place and Dave Jobling third.
 
 
With the Race Officer deciding on an unchanged course for the second race
John Coppenhall established a commanding lead to win from Pope and Jobling.
 
 
With everying to sail for in the final race the fleet was in close combat
for the first two laps before Pope established a good lead to win the race
and the event from Jobling and John Coppenhall.
